Software Firmware Engineer

Overview

We are seeking an Embedded Systems Software/Firmware Engineer to play a key role in current and future Firmware and Software developments at ILC+Eberhard. In this position, you will be the primary software engineering and responsible for firmware development of existing and future platforms. You will be doing close collaboration with the electronics and mechanical teams to seamlessly integrate hardware and software. You will be developing applications for iOS, Android, Microsoft and cloud platforms. Must be someone who always looks toward the future in technology and design. You must be Self-motivating and able to work in groups with multiple disciplines.

Essential Functions

  • Writing firmware using Object-oriented programming techniques.
  • Developing GUI (Graphical User interface) software for embedded systems, for multiple platforms.
  • Build and support system databases.
  • Developing wireless communication interfaces with Bluetooth and Wi-Fi wireless modules.
  • Maintaining embedded software, including adding features and fixing bugs, in existing products.
  • Compiling firmware specification documents.
  • Contributing to and document firmware architecture in a collaborative environment
  • Writing unit tests for all code, Investigating and resolve issues that come out of the testing group.
  • Performing feasibility studies for new products and recommend solutions.
  • Following technology trends for new developments in technologies used in our products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering / Computer Engineering / Computer Science
  • 3+ years working experience in the design and development in firmware and/or application development.
  • Working knowledge of IoT, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and mobile platforms.
  • Knowledge of database design and development.
  • Have had some experience with servers and/or cloud-based systems, AWS, Azure, etc.
  • Have worked with Silicon Labs or comparable products.
  • PCB development knowledge a plus but not required.
  • Experience with developing sound firmware architecture.

Production Planner

Summary:

Production planners are organized into functional areas based on plant locations, work-centers, products manufactured and/or business segments. They are responsible for balancing demand & capacities and communicating with plant supervisors & managers, new product development teams, Sales, purchasing, shipping to resolve any issues effecting the planning, timing and execution of production for their respective areas.

Essential Functions:

  • Essential Functions:

  • Plan and release production orders to manufacturing, based on assigned department, process, or part group.
  • Ensure production plan supports sales plan and inventory targets (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, etc.); you may need to adjust production schedules as needed to meet customer expectations.
  • Relay relevant information to management and supervisors regarding material shortages, potential schedule interruptions and possible equipment maintenance that would affect a smooth and timely production output.
  • Utilize Business Systems, ERP (Infor VISUAL experience plus) and supporting worksheets that support production planning, capacity planning, and operational management.
  • Create work order packets for shop floor, including all relevant information, drawings, labels etc.
  • As needed, assist in expediting materials to ensure customer deliveries are in accordance with schedule.
  • Make delivery commitments on products, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity.
  • Coordinate with plant supervisors to execute Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Monitor actual output versus the Production Plan, identify gaps and drive solutions.
  • Investigate & resolve piece count discrepancies by making inventory transactions/adjustments as required.
  • Cross train for Plating Dispatch & Truck Routing
  • Other Production Control activities as assigned.
  • Be able to propose and implement solutions to improve forecast accuracy.

  • Proficient in using ERP systems, preferably Infor VISUAL.

Quality Manager

Job Summary:

The Quality Manager leads our Quality team, providing direction, focus, and support for key initiatives. This person manages a team that will work closely with Manufacturing, Engineering, Sourcing, Sales, and outside vendors while playing an important role in ensuring, product compliance, quality output, and customer satisfaction. A primary focus is process compliance and improvement. This person will review processes and procedures, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implement changes to make the organization more effective and efficient. This person is also responsible for our ISO 9001:2015 audits and management reviews.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Compliance/Certification
    • Maintain the ISO 9001:2015 - compliant Quality Management System, including acting as primary contact and coordinating training support.
    • Ensure Management reviews are conducted to provide for systems review.
    • Manage Internal Audit Program.
  • New/Change Product/Process Validation and oversee management of validation activities
    • Overall product quality, from raw materials to WIP to finished goods (including but not limited to root cause investigations, timely corrective actions).
    • Ensure appropriate protocols are written, identified actions are completed, inclusive reports are written.
    • Management of Implementation and Documentation of IQ, OQ, PQ
    • Ensure timely and conclusive validations.
    • Oversee QC testing efforts.
    • Participate in Design Reviews, including Technical Reviews, Feasibility Discussion, and Failure
  • Complaint/Corrective Action Management
    • Act as direct contact (where appropriate) or manage contact for customer quality-related issues; coordinate course of action for alleviating and resolving concerns and providing timely responses.
    • Identify corrective/preventive actions for continuous improvement (effectively implemented and closed in a timely manner) and quality improvement as needed for Production and Business Unit Goals.
    • Ensure completion of necessary paperwork such as Alerts, and other relevant documents.
    • Ensure Root Cause Analyses are conducted to establish reasons and solutions for Quality matters.
    • Manage site calibration program.
    • Regulatory compliance (Prop65, REECH, etc.).
  • Use data-based information to drive Scrap Reduction, elimination of Non-Value activities, and On-Time Delivery improvement to drive action needed for the Quality and Regulatory
    • Use charts/graphs/data to lead/support scheduled meetings.
    • Offer input for areas of improvement in products, processes, and procedures. Manage internal Material Review Board, tracking expired and non-conforming product and actions needed.
  • Manage Department
    • Manages talent acquisition and develops new hire on-boarding plans as needed.
    • Provides frequent performance feedback and completes annual reviews for the team.
    • Guides the Quality team to manage daily production activities with minimal direct supervision.
  • Cross-functional leadership. Collaborate with colleagues in other departments on non-conformances, corrective actions, and process improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, Additional job activities as may be required by the department.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Business Administration, Quality, Engineering, Operations or related field required, certification to internal auditing preferred.
  • 6+ years in a Quality Management experience, preferably in Manufacturing, Stamping.
  • 2+ years in a QC Managers role
  • 3+ Experience working with Tier 1, Tier 2 Automotive Customers, and Military
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer a plus
  • Knowledge/experience with ISO9001:2015 or equivalent, quality system requirements required.
  • Ability to use MS Office Tools such as Word, Excel, Project (or other project management software), Access and MiniTab (or other statistics software).
  • Ability to build respect/trust within internal staff/other functional leaders as well as external customers.

Key Market Manager

Core Responsibilities:

  • The key market manager is the face of the company in their respective customer and business engagements. They must drive themselves and have the commitment to the required to achieve a high level of success with their business objectives.
  • Work with the Director of Sales to develop and produce the key account sales plan to support the Eberhard strategic planning process. Include the key markets, key customers and key products that define the expected double-digit growth.
  • Achieve the sales volume, margin and profit goals for all assigned accounts.
  • Build and nurture a personal relationship with accounts so as to pro-actively identify customer and markets needs while simultaneously helping them understand the Eberhard capabilities.
  • Provide the leadership, technical oversight as well as general direction, scheduling, decision-making, and problem-solving capabilities for themselves and their customers. Including the proper application of 80/20, product line simplification and commercial minimums.
  • Partner with operations, engineering, marketing and product management to ensure on-going alignment with market needs and the creation of market driven solutions.

  • Create personal strategies and implement to meet the organizational goals and objectives
  • Identifies new market trends and opportunities to leverage new / emerging technologies or products and takes active role in generating the opportunity maps and overall pipeline.
  • Attends the Critical to Close project reviews to constructively assist and drive the key projects needed to reach the expected goals and revenue targets.
  • Conduct the necessary face to face meetings and hold the maximum amount of solution seminars to generate an opportunity pipeline, more than 300%, above the annual sales targets.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree from a 4-year accredited College or University with a focus in Engineering, Accounting or another STEM subject. OR the combined work experience to perform the duties at a high-level of success.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in customer service, sales, marketing, product management or operations.
  • Broad process/Technical knowledge, Plastics, Metal and Assembly methods/processes
  • Past experience or familiarity with a publicly owned, OEM manufacturing organization.
  • Has demonstrated a successful track record of organizational development and delivering or executing products/projects successfully to market/business.

Screw Machine Operator - 2nd Shift

EXPERIENCED

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and run production as well as maintaining quality on Davenports/Brown & Sharpes by maintaining, sharpening, or changing machine tools as needed - Dovetails and Drills
  • Adjust machine and tool setting to keep customer part dimensions within specified tolerances
  • Perform maintenance on machines when needed
  • Responsible for adhering to the Quality Policy
  • Know location of Departmental Work Instructions
  • Know material specs and stock machines as needed
  • Operate Chip Spinner
  • Loads pipe into the screw machine to manufacture screws of varying sizes and shapes
  • Operate the Screw Machine
  • Observe machine operations for any problems and shut down to repair/remove jams, etc.
  • Maintain machines’ maintenance requirements, continuously inspect parts, and Chip Spinning for reuse of oils
  • Inspection of finished product done by Inspection Department before leaving Screw Machine Department

What you need to succeed:

Responsibilities:

  • Set up, operate, and tear down Automatic and Secondary Presses
  • Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks per specification to run job orders accurately and maximize productivity
  • Perform first piece quality inspection
  • Record all data needed for inventory control purposes including: good parts, scrap, and other data as necessary
  • Monitor and notify supervisors of machine wear or damage for preventative maintenance
  • Comply with work scopes instructions
  • Meet established production criteria
  • Troubleshoot and make needed adjustments to equipment for problem resolution
  • Perform rework or sorting as required
  • Maintain safe operations be adhering to safety procedures, regulations and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Short Run Assembly Technician – 2nd Shift

Responsibilities:

Assembly:

  • Collect all material and equipment needed to begin the assembly process
  • Follow guidelines and work instructions on military and standard jobs
  • Align material and put together parts to build more complex units
  • Sort and/or Repair nonconforming parts (NCMR’s)

Powder Coating:

  • Prepare parts for coating
  • Follow all principles and practices of powder coating application
  • Operate all coating equipment including guns, hoppers, oven and booth collection systems
  • Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently, and are consistent with company established goals for quality and customer order on-time performance

Packing/Vent:

  • Follow packing list to pack assembled parts in boxes
  • Pack boxes on pallets
  • Develop mailing labels and shipping documents
  • Keep accurate records of shipments
  • Ensure orders are filled correctly

Supplemental Functions:

  • Drive Fork Trucks and use hand tools
  • Willing to learn other jobs throughout the shop for backup coverage

Maintenance Electrician

Responsibilities:

  • Check, troubleshoot, diagnose and repair machines / equipment
  • Perform maintenance of electric power, lighting and communication systems of the building and machinery including upgrading wiring, installation of equipment and fixtures, such as motors, generators, switches, circuit breakers and fuse boxes
  • Install power supply wiring and conduit for new machines / equipment
  • Connect power supply wires and cables to and between machines and equipment
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning parts such as transformers, heater circuits, machine controls, relays, switches, motors and lighting fixtures
  • Inspect, test, and replace damaged equipment
  • Assist Maintenance Mechanic in diagnosing and replacing faulty mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components of machines / equipment
  • Perform preventative maintenance (TPMs & PMs) on equipment
  • Operate rigging, fork truck, ladders, overhead crane, and man lifts, as needed
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and orderly work area
  • Inspect wiring and fixtures for conformance to company specifications or local electrical codes using test equipment such as voltmeter and ohmmeter
  • Any other duties as assigned

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Minimum 3 years applied multi-craft maintenance experience working in a manufacturing environment, 5 years preferred
  • Strong Electrical and Mechanical Knowledge
  • Understanding of Programming Logic Controls
  • Excellent Troubleshooting Skills – Electrical and Mechanical
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, wiring diagrams, and hydraulic schematics
  • Understanding of National Electrical Code
