Screw Machine Operator 'B'

Responsibilities:

  • Set up and run production as well as maintain Quality on Davenport Machines / Brown & Sharpes by maintaining, sharpening, or changing machine tools as needed - Dovetails and Drills. (*every 5,000 pieces ran per job requires a complete re-sharpen.)
  • Adjust machine and tool setting to keep customer part dimensions within specified tolerances.
  • Perform maintenance on machines when needed.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Quality Policy.
  • Know location of Departmental Work Instructions.
  • Know material specs and stock machines as needed.

Essential Functions: 

  • Operate Chip Spinner
    • Load chips from the screw machine into the chip spinner
    • Operate the spinner to remove oil and recycle
    • Repeat the process throughout the day alternating between the chip spinner and the screw machines
  • Load Bars into Screw Machine
    • Loads pipe into the screw machine to manufacture screws of varying sizes and shapes
  • Operate the Screw Machine
    • Manipulate lever to adjust the pipe and pushe button to run the machine once bars / pipe is loaded
    • Observe machine operations for any problems and shut down to repair/remove jams, etc.

Supplemental Functions:

  • Maintain machines’ maintenance requirements, continuously inspect parts, and Chip Spinning for reuse of oils.
  • Inspection of finished product done by Inspection Department before leaving Screw Machine Department

Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Set ups on Davenports / Brown & Sharpes and maintenance repairs. 
  • Ability to read drawings, blue prints, and job orders for information such as dimensions, tolerances, and job quantity.
  • Knowledge of and experience using measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, height gages and depth mics (must have own tools).

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience.
