Production Planner

Core Responsibilities:

  • Plan and release production orders to manufacturing, based on assigned department, process, or part group.
  • Ensure production plan supports sales plan and inventory targets (lead times, lot sizes, safety stock, etc.); you may need to adjust production schedules as needed to meet customer expectations.
  • Relay relevant information to management and supervisors regarding material shortages, potential schedule interruptions and possible equipment maintenance that would affect a smooth and timely production output.
  • Utilize Business Systems, ERP (Infor VISUAL experience plus) and supporting worksheets that support production planning, capacity planning, and operational management.
  • Create work order packets for shop floor, including all relevant information, drawings, labels etc.
  • As needed, assist in expediting materials to ensure customer deliveries are in accordance with schedule.
  • Make delivery commitments on products, which involve checking uncommitted material and availability of capacity.
  • Coordinate with plant supervisors to execute Production Plan on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Monitor actual output versus the Production Plan, identify gaps and drive solutions.
  • Investigate & resolve piece count discrepancies by making inventory transactions/adjustments as required.
  • Cross train for Plating Dispatch & Truck Routing
  • Other Production Control activities as assigned.
  • Be able to propose and implement solutions to improve forecast accuracy.
  • Address demand-related issues in a timely and effective manner.
  • Solid understanding of inventory management practices and procedures.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Be adaptable to schedule changes and able to react with a plan and deliver on time.

Minimum Educational Qualifications:

  • Associates or greater degree preferred. Will consider candidates with the appropriate experience. 

Minimum Experience, Skills and Qualifications:

  • 4+ year Experience production planning
  • 4+ Experience in a Manufacturing Environment, preferable Stamping, Machining Detail – with understanding of batch sizing, and run rates.
  • Able to read Manufacturing Drawings, Part Masters and BOM structures
  • Understanding principles of MRP Scheduling
  • Proficient in using ERP systems, preferably Infor VISUAL.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize critical work.
  • Detail-oriented, flexible to change and able to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Knowledge of sourcing/buying practices for raw materials a plus, specifically replenishment buying.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing principles and operations.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment: 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with production associates.
  • Exposure to production environment such as dust, noise, dirt and fluctuating temperatures.
